Project RD256

Here's something you won't want to miss! Matt from Big Dream Motorcycles will be showcasing his RD256.

This bike was built as a tribute to Michelle Ann Duff and the Yamaha RD56 for the inaugural Grand Bend Festival of Speed in 2019. It started out as a frame and engine from a 1974 RD250, combined with some modern suspension, brakes and wheels. Period-correct bodywork and fuel tank were the final touches to create the retro-mod version of the Yamaha's iconic race bike from the early '60s ridden by Canada's most successful Grand Prix racer.

Yamaha RD56
The RD56 was a 250cc rotary-valved two-stroke in-line twin built from 1962 to 1966. Yamaha won its first two world titles on this bike.

Michelle Ann Duff
Hailing from Toronto, Duff had a successful Grand Prix career that spanned the '60s, including two Grand Prix wins on the RD56 in the 250cc class.
